What the misses tell us
Each failing query maps to a roadmap item — schema and infrastructure work earns the first 4-5 query passes; closing the remaining gap is mostly content coverage and off-domain authority.
- Q4 — how long does subdivision plat approval take in Ada County Idaho Existing /dev-iq/faqs/entitlements/ doesn't rank yet — needs more entity-defining content, possibly an Article schema refresh, and stronger internal linking.

Methodology, expanded
The test approximates how the four major AI assistants surface Bailey when their users ask buyer-intent questions about Treasure Valley civil engineering. Rather than querying chat UIs (which produce non-reproducible results and require a human in the loop), the test queries the search engines those assistants ground on.
- ChatGPT & Microsoft Copilot ground on Bing. DuckDuckGo HTML aggregates Bing's index plus DDG's own crawl — a reliable, captcha-free proxy.
- Claude grounds on Brave Search.
- Gemini grounds on Google. Programmatic Google access is blocked for unauthenticated automation, so Gemini's substrate isn't directly testable from our test rig.
- Perplexity uses its own independent crawl, closer in behavior to Brave than to Bing.
Union scoring: a query passes if Bailey appears in the top 10 organic results on at least one engine. This is more generous than the original intersection-style baseline (which counted only queries where Bailey ranked across multiple engines). Today's 5/10 reflects the Bing-indexed reality — ChatGPT/Copilot users are already finding Bailey for 5 of these 10 questions.
