Dev Log
Backlog: pillar page visual redesign + city YouTube integration
What was done
- Added two new entries to
BACKLOG.mdunder the “Content depth” section, with enough detail to pick up as standalone tasks in a future session. - Updated the “Last updated” date in
BACKLOG.mdfrom 2026-04-20 to 2026-04-22.
Item 1 — Pillar page visual redesign (/about/bailey/)
Two sub-items captured:
- 2a. Founding story timeline (Section 3) — horizontal-on-desktop / vertical-on-mobile timeline 2006–2026 with provisional milestones (founding, Great Recession, 2024 700+ lot year, 2025 AI integration, 2026 leadership transition). Flagged that specific years/events need confirmation from Shane or David before shipping.
- 2b. Service area visual (Section 4) — three options listed (stylized 6-county map with Valley County differentiated; concentric-region diagram; infographic with project density). Constraints noted: SVG-or-treated-image, brand palette, mobile-responsive, alt text. Optional commission cost $200-800.
Scope estimate (4-8h, +1-2 weeks if commissioning illustrator) and dependencies (Shane/David conversation, optional illustrator) included.
Item 2 — YouTube channel integration on city pages
Sourced from .tmp/plans/0002_26_04_22/service-areas-youtube-report.md. Captured:
- 4-tier breakdown of the 25 service-area cities (Tier 1 = playlist verified; Tier 2 = channel only; Tier 3 = alternate platforms; Tier 4 = PDF minutes only).
- Recommended approach (Option A from the report — uniform card/list with video-availability badge).
- Implementation plan (new
src/data/city-video-sources.ts, component or extension ofCityResourcesList, apply to 25 pages, verify-build check). - 5 open questions from the report that need a decision before implementation (Middleton playlist verification, Tier 4 inclusion, scope of committees, refresh cadence, embed vs. thumbnail).
- Scope estimate (3-5h) and dependencies.
Why
Both items came from the user as discrete future-work additions. The pillar page reads flat for human visitors despite being AI-SEO strong, and the city pages currently have no video/meeting integration — the recent YouTube report makes the second item actionable. Capturing both with full detail lets a future session pick them up without needing this conversation as context.
